My garden area had not been used in years and when I prepared the soil with a tiller attachment I found a very solid surface about 5 inches from the surface that was stunting the growth of my garden.  The sub-soiler went down about 7-8 inches and broke up that solid layer.  After using the sub-soiler, I tilled again and no longer have that hard-pack at 5 inches.  I am sure I will find other uses such as burying water and electrical cable.  Solid product and fast shipping.
